Prerequisite:  Must have a current HCP card, be 18 years of age, and have a High School Diploma or GED, MMR, TB Test, and HBV Vaccine.

Course Description:  The Phlebotomy program is a 109-hour course designed to train individuals how to collect blood for laboratory analysis which is necessary for the diagnosis and care of the patient. It is also ideal for health professionals seeking to expand their current skills or for those interested in a profession in laboratory medicine. Phlebotomists usually work under the direction of a lead phlebotomist or medical technologist. The Phlebotomist collects blood specimens for analysis, checks the quality of the sample, and assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of patient during the procedure. The Phlebotomist must have sufficient IV skills to collect blood from infants, children, adults, and elderly or hard to stick patients.
