Nursing Assistant - Certified
Prerequisite: Must be at least 16 years of age, complete college entrance exam provided by CoMT, and pass criminal background check by WSP with NO record of file ($55). Participant must have a non-expired Healthcare Provider Card with documentation of a 2 step TB skin test (within the last year) or chest X-ray, Hepatitis B immunization and have proof of MMR. PPD (TB) testing is offered through CoMT for $20.00 per step. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Course Description: The Nursing Assistant – Certified program is 149-hours and approximately 8 - 10 weeks long. This course covers 95-hours of classroom lecture and about 54-hours of clinical time in a local care facility. This is an enhanced program that prepares nursing assistants to have knowledge beyond the minimum requirements set by the state. Content of this program includes: basic technical skills, personal care skills, First Aid training, mental health & social service needs, restorative services, resident rights, abuse & neglect, communication skills and infection control. After successful completion of the course, students are eligible to participate in state testing to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Participants may then work in hospitals or care facilities with direct patient care. Materials Needed for
