Prerequisite:
Must be at least 16 years of age and have a non-expired Healthcare
Provider Card and have completed the HIV/AIDS program with documentation of
TB skin test, chest X-ray, Hepatitis B immunization and have proof of MMR. PPD testing is offered
for students through CoMT for $10.00.
Course Description:
The
Nursing Assistant –
Certified
program
is 149-hours and approximately 8 - 10 weeks long.
This
course covers 95-hours of classroom lecture and about 54-hours of clinical
time in a local care facility.
This is an enhanced
program that prepares nursing assistants to have knowledge beyond the
minimum requirements set by the state.
Content
of this program includes: basic technical skills, personal care skills,
First Aid training, mental health & social service needs, restorative
services, resident rights, abuse & neglect, communication skills and
infection control. After successful completion of the course, students are
eligible to participate in state testing to become a Certified Nursing
Assistant.
Participants may then work in hospitals or care facilities with direct
patient care.

has a mandated ruling that requires Long Term Care Centers that receive
Medicare, to fully reimburse new employees that have received their
certificate from school and/or received their NA – Certification from
state. This applies to the NAC’s first job within a one year period. The Long Term Care Center reimburses the
employee 100% of the school and testing costs. For terms and
