Course Description: The 40-hour First Responder course trains participants to provide basic level emergency medical care to the sick or injured. It covers content and skills similar to, but less comprehensive than the EMT-Basic course. There is no clinical component to this course. Successful completion of this course includes attendance, a written exam and a national practical skills test. When information is sent to the State EMS Regulatory Board, the participant is issued a First Responder card and registered with the state.
