Prerequisite: Must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School Diploma or GED, complete college entrance exam provided by CoMT, and pass criminal background check by WSP with NO record of file ($55). Participant must provide a copy of current driver's license and have a non-expired Healthcare Provider Card with documentation of a 2 step TB skin test (within the last year) or chest X-ray, Hepatitis B immunization and have proof of MMR. PPD (TB) testing is offered through CoMT for $20.00 per step. Must be able to lift often.

Course Description: The Emergency Medical Technician – Basic program is a 120-hour course that is designed to train students to serve as a vital link in the chain of the healthcare team. EMT-B personnel provide the majority of pre-hospital emergency care. This course provides an introduction of the environment requiring special skills and knowledge in such areas as communication, transportation and liaison with other emergency services. Some specific topics covered include, but are not limited to: render emergency medical or trauma care to adults, children and infants; perform airway management and CPR, including AED use, administration of medications, and safely place a patient in an ambulance.

Additional Information:

10 weeks / 120 hours - 110 hours class room time, 10 hours ER time.

*Must fill out application & take test prior to course - and pass the WSP Criminal Background check $55.00 fee
*Must have current vaccination record, MMR or titer, TB test, Tetanus (last 10 years), Hepatitis B status, varicella vaccine or titer.
*Must have current HCP card prior to 1^st day of class.

Must purchase both textbook & workbook - $129.60 (not included on course cost).

PPD testing is offered through CoMT for $20.00 per step.
