Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Instructor
Prerequisite: Non-expired HCP Card and ACLS Card with 2 years experience. Demonstrates proficiency in ACLS and BLS skills. Previous teaching experience in and ACLS provider course. Regional Faculty Recommendation (completed by a regional faculty member who’s observed you teaching an ACLS course). Course Description: The ACLS – Instructor program is a 16-hour course to develop proficiency in teaching, organizing and conducting a provider course and 8-hours being precepted during a program. ACLS Instructors must have a firm working knowledge of the ACLS material. They are also expected to demonstrate in-depth factual knowledge of emergency cardiac care. Participant’s learn to design a provider course to meet the needs of the particular student population. Currently accepted principles of adult learning, the use of interactive teaching strategies and the ability to sequence instruction and evaluate progress are essential parts of this course. Instructor candidates must be current ACLS providers with excellent provider skills. The emphasis of the program will be on teaching methodology. You will be expected to have acquired psychomotor skills such as intubation, clinical skills, ECG interpretation and leadership skills prior to the program. Each student will receive a teaching assignment and during the course will demonstrate and have those teaching skills evaluated. Your certification will be valid for 2 years. Materials Needed for
